Information for Professionals
The Virtual Tumour Bank of the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest allows an easy and quick identification of human bio-specimens that are potentially accessible for cancer research projects.
Each request will be reviewed about availability of bio-specimens, patient’s non opposition, technical feasibility of access to sample(s), and scientific value of the presented research project.
The information of this inventory is regularly updated under each institution responsibility, following the expansion of their collections. The inventoried human bio-specimens match the criteria defined by the Consortium of the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest Tumour Banks. The access to clinical, anatomo-pathological and biological data is strictly under the responsibility of each Tumour Bank.

Consult the Virtual Tumour Bank by browsing through the inventory of the stored bio-specimens in two possible ways:
         Search using the International Classification of Diseases, established by the World Health Organisation (ICD-10)

         Multicriteria search of specific bio-specimen(s). Among the criteria, the topography code and morphology code can be chosen either from the classification established by the World Health Organisation (ICD-10) or from the ADICAP classification created by the Association for IT Development in Cyto- and Anatomo-Pathology. In the absence of an official and updated transcoding table, the site uses a table established by the CHU of Montpellier. To make the most from this inventory, we suggest doing a search using both classifications.

Contact the coordinator of the specific tumour bank.
         Send your request to the coordinator of the Tumour Bank using the "request of access" form.

         Requests are reviewed by a scientific steering committee that pledges to answer
         The access to bio-specimens is subjected to the signature of a document established by the concerned Tumour Banks (transfer contract or transfer agreement, according to the case) that will specify the obligation of each party.
         Bio-specimens will be delivered, but in case of rare exceptions, in the form of derivative products (tissue sections, DNA, RNA….) in order to ensure the permanence of the collections ;

The development of the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest Virtual Tumour Bank lies within the scope and continues the work started with the Cancéropôle Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Virtual Tumour Bank. It is in line with the recommendations of the National Cancer Institute (INCa) towards the future creation of a National Virtual Tumour Bank. It benefits of the financial support for scientific activities allocated to the Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest by INCa.
